Kaytranada is back at it again with his debut album 99.9% set to be released in early May on XL Recordings. The Canadian super producer is teaming up with some music industry greats including newly signed Aftermath artist Anderson Paak, Vic Mensa, BADBADNOTGOOD, and Aluna George to name a few.

Kaytranada came to fame quickly around 2013 with his remix releases of Missy Elliot “Sock it To Me” and Janet Jackson “If.”  Louis Celestin’s productions caught on like wildfire with a mixture of future bass and euphoric electronic glitch sounds accompanied with an old school Hip Hop style.  As Anderson Paak would say it feels like Kaytranada is, “an old soul twice removed” when it comes to his upcoming album 99.9%.  His overall selection and music direction seems to be touching on the roots of soul, funk, and boom bap hip hop.

When you put two and two together it’s easy to see why the young all star was selected among one of the top artists to watch by Rick Ruben.  After meeting with Ruben for production on his double LP, Kaytranada took to Facebook mentioning, “Today was inspiring.”

His newest release from 99.9% comes as an early present with recruit Anderson Paak on the track. Just weeks after Paak’s signing to Dr. Dre’s record label ‘Aftermath’ and release of his second debut album ‘Malibu‘ we get his collaboration with Kaytranada in “Glowed Up.”  A space bass driven song with Paak’s funky and rhythmic vocals to bounce across Kaytra’s incredible golden touch.

The music video is something out of Stanley Kubrick’s A ClockWork Orange, with purple hazy trippy scenic shots and stacks of peanut butter jelly sandwiches.  Throw in some milk and this is one acidic trip of a music video, but that’s the beauty of it.
